What is it?

The diet for Candida is a three stage process designed to do two things;

1 – Starve the Candida fungus – Candida love sugar, refined carbo’s, mold – basically everything that we all love. The best way to get to work killing the fungus is to starve it by not eating these foods.

2 – Eliminate allergens/sensitivities. Candida takes a hold within us because our immune system has failed – usually through overwork, and food sensitivities and allergies play an enormous role here. Most of us will have no idea about what we are sensitive to, so stage one of this diet for Candida is especially effective at identifying our ‘bad’ foods.

How easy is the Candida Cleanse Diet?

If I am really honest the hardest part of the diet for Candida is the initial stages of working out what you can and can not eat.

Cooking it is no problem – mainly stir fries and salads. I find that it is actually quicker and easier than the meals that I used to prepare.

Unfortunately in stage one you can just about count the list of foods that you can eat on one hand! But after you have got a basic menu together it is just a case of getting into a routine.

After the first week or two of stage one you get into the swing of it and can start to look at getting some sort of variety going.

How expensive is the Candida Cleanse Diet?

A lot of this depends on where you live and how much access you have to fresh produce.

I was prepared for a massive hike in my grocery bill, but I actually find that one expense balances out another, so I was no worse off. For example, what I was spending on dairy products and bread I was spending on fresh vegetables. What I would have spent on chocolate I was spending on nuts and seeds.

What are the rules of the Candida cleanse diet?

Hard and fast rules about specific foods for the diet for Candida are difficult because everyone reacts differently to different foods but these are the basics that everyone agrees on;

Stage 1 of the Candida Cleanse Diet

Stage one of the Candida Cleanse Diet is the most important if we want to get back to full health. This is where we start the process of killing the Candida by removing all likely food sources and this is also where we remove any foods that are stopping our immune system from functioning.

    sugar (including fruit, fruit juice and artificial sweeteners)

  • carbohydrates (simple or otherwise),
  • starch,
  • yeast,
  • mold,
  • gluten,
  • wheat or
  • dairy
  • Fermented foods like soy sauce, vinegar and alcohol are also out.
  • Fried fast foods are also out for obvious reasons!

Stage 2 of the Candida Cleanse Diet

Stage 2 is when we start to slowly reintroduce some foods. Starting with a few whole grains like amaranth, oats, buckwheat and brown rice. Just add one at a time, one serving a day.

After each addition it is important to note whether you feel some sort of reaction – even if it is just that your heat rate goes up! Keeping some sort of food diary is a really good idea here.

Stage 3 of the Candida Cleanse Diet

Stage 3 is basically when you have reintroduced most of your normal foods without incidence and can resume a ‘normal’ diet.

What many people find is that they feel so good after a month or so on this diet for Candida that they continue on with stage 2 and limit their carbos, sugar, starches etc indefinitely! But this doesn’t mean that they don’t enjoy the odd pizza or fish ‘n’ chip night either!

Please remember that while the Candida Cleanse Diet is a fantastic way to kick start your campaign against Candida it is only the first step in completely curing your infection.
